Transcendent Friends
Your friends are transcendent or they are not
If they are not, they are transient
Which do you want
Transient are short-lived, abundant
Transcendent are forever, few
Transcendent Friends
Stay with you, abide
Beyond the time and place
You lived, learned, or worked side-by-side
Transcendent Friends
Stay with you
Well beyond the time transients
Have left you behind
Transcendent Friends reach out when you've been out of touch
They check in because they care, they miss you, and know You would respond in kind
Transcendent Friends...
Who are yours
That have stood the test of time
Over many decades past
And will for decades to the last
Can you name them, as I
Dan, Chris, Steve, Manley, and Nils
Each transcend our maiden decade
and continue creating memories our hearts and minds fill
Transient friends move on and are lost before their time
Transcendent Friends stay on with you until your end of time.
